6 Tips to Boost Your Immune system

As the pandemic rages on, one of our concerns is ensuring that persons can maintain a healthy immune system.

Key changes that can boost your immune system revolve around lifestyle changes and what you put in your body – including supplements.

These tips will not protect you from catching COVID-19. You still need to maintain physical distancing (sometimes called social distancing) and practice proper hygiene (e.g., handwashing and sanitization).

What the tips will do is help you boost your immune system to give you a better chance of fighting off illnesses.

6 ways to boost your immune system

1. Improve your diet

I know this goes without saying. But too many of us forget that we need to eat a balanced diet to protect our immune health.

Your diet should be rich in antioxidants to fight free radicals, and this requires a lot of fruits and vegetables. (Free radicals can build up over time and lead to damage that can cause serious illnesses like cancer).

2. Stay hydrated

The general advice is 64 ounces of water per day. And that’s easy to remember. But you may need more or less depending on certain conditions. Males tend to need to drink more water than females.

Plus, you can modify your water intake based on your lifestyle factors, like the type of exercises you do, the weather, and your overall health.

Staying hydrated helps your body’s cells operate efficiently. Your body can process food better and eliminate waste. Both of these activities are critical to maintaining a healthy immune system.

3. Add exercise to the mix

According to a 2019 study, there is a direct link between your body’s immune system and physical activity. Regular, moderate-intensity exercise can boost your immune health.

Persons who are active tend to have fewer illnesses and can even protect their immune systems from the effects of aging.

But, overdoing it can pose a problem. If you intend to take on rigorous exercise, you need to ensure that you’re eating a balanced diet fit for high-intensity workouts and staying hydrated.

4. Get enough rest

Enjoying a full eight hours of sleep may help regulate your body’s regular immune function. Without enough sleep, it’s easier for you to get sick.

Put the phones and tablets away early, hit the off button on the TV, and get to bed earlier so you can enjoy that much-needed and essential rest.

5. Take a supplement

2019 study looked at the antimicrobial effects of Vitamin C. The author noted that “humans have lost their vitamin C-synthesizing capabilities”. Further, there is evidence that the antioxidant properties of Vitamin C can boost the immune system. Deficiency in vitamin C often leads to severe ailments.

So, this is one of the supplements you should have in your diet.  A supplement packed with elderberry, vitamin C, and zinc can be a great addition to your health to boost immune health. Zinc is important for cell functions, and elderberry is packed with vitamins and antioxidants, all essential along with vitamin C for boosting the immune system.

6. Manage your stress

You will often hear the term “stress kills”.

Stress puts your body’s cells under pressure, including leading to inflammation. Stress will also suppress your immune system’s response due to imbalances in your immune cell function.  So, managing your stress is critical to ensuring a strong and healthy immune system.

Take care of your body and your health and they will take care of you. And don’t forget to get your elderberry, vitamin C, and zinc supplement here to help boost your immune system.
